Katinka Kleijn (cello) and David Bowlin (violin) at The Promontory

Researching the close border between composer and musician, longtime friends and collaborators Bowlin and Kleijn have commissioned ‘portraits’ from Monte Weber and Du Yun || duYun, in which the actual subject of the commission is the performer. Besides composing musical vignettes of each other, they will top off the program with Sofia Gubaidulina’s powerful String Duo.

Tony Arnold (soprano) and Jacob Greenberg (piano)

Arnold and Greenberg bring a modern rarity to the midwest: Helmut Lachenmann's epic 2007 piece Got Lost, which interweaves fragmented texts by Fernando Pessoa, Friedrich Nietzsche, and an English posting seen in a laundromat. Also on the program is a world premiere Bright Codes by Dai Fujikura, written for Jacob Greenberg.
