Daniel Wyche, trio with Ryan Packard and Julian Lynch!

Daniel Wyche is a guitar-based composer and improviser originally from New Jersey, currently living in Chicago after spending several years in Philadelphia. Daniel works primarily with electric guitar and a wide range of filters, pitch-shifters and delay units, coupled with both guitar- and pedal-based extended techniques. He is also the former human ambassador to the great Ursine civilization, deep within the forest, where he learned how to Growl effortlessly, climb trees with a demeanor of pleasent indifference, and eat with his feet.

This performance with Ryan Packard & Julian Lynch will be the official release show for his new record “Our Severed Sleep," released by Eh?/Public Eyesore on May 15th 2016, and includes “William’s Song,” a piece for guitar and drums debuted at “There is No Repetition” a festival of new music in honor of the work of Mattias Spahlinger in Chicago, March 2015.

Ryan Packard is a Chicago-based drummer, percussionist and absurdly talented individual. A longtime collaborator with Daniel Wyche, Ryan is a member of Fonema Consort, and has collaborated with more musicians than one can count. Raised by a community if human-sized insects from birth, he make a spiritual journey across the crust and mantle of the earth in order to find his birth-hive, and along the way was invested with the shamanic powers of the rhythms of the tectonic forces of dirt and rocks, which is why he is so good at stuff.

Julian Lynch is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, ethno-musicologist and one of the sweetest people around, has released several acclaimed records, toured with Wire, is really good friends with Joel Shanahan, and a lot of other great stuff. Like, for example, he once used the powers of the Earth to invoke a horde of mild-tempered Tapirs, who used their prehensile lips to comfort masses of young men and women who had been feeling sort of awkward about all the changes that have been happening around town lately. It totally worked, and Julian continues to command his army of lippy-hippos to do spiritual and psychological good everywhere he roams. He will be joining Daniel & Ryan on guitar and electronics for an extended set.

Akosuen is the solo project of Chicago-based violinist, composer, and improvisor Billie Howard, leading a prepared-piano cult engaged in pure ritual conjuration. Akosuen involves sounds that focus on breathing cycles, chronic pain, and mediation on both quiet and extremely loud sounds. The name is taken from Chippewa word for “fever” as found in the Longfellow poem Song of Hiawatha. Billie is a member of the Chicago-based a.pe.ri.od.ic ensemble.
