New Music at the Green Mill

Clarinetist Cory Tiffin returns to the stage at the Green Mill, 4802 N Broadway St, on Sunday, June 19 at 3:00 p.m. in a concert curated by Tiffin for Uptown’s new music staple, “New Music at the Green Mill,” now in its 28th season. Admission is $10.

The one-hour, jammed-packed concert includes World Premieres by Conrad Tao and Jennifer Bellor and works by Marc Mellits, Sarah J Ritch, Kaija Saariaho, John Fonville, David Sanford, Charles Halka, Alexandra Gardner and “New Music at the Green Mill” Founder George W Flynn. 

The impressive lineup of Chicago-based musicians is flutist Timothy Munro (formerly of Eighth Blackbird), clarinetist Michael Maccaferri (Eighth Blackbird), clarinetist Cory Tiffin (Las Vegas Philharmonic), violinist Desiree Ruhstrat (Lincoln Trio, Black Oak Ensemble), violinist Tarn Travers (Ensemble Dal Niente), violist Aurelien Pederzoli (Black Oak Ensemble, formerly of Spektral Quartet), cellist David Cunliffe (Lincoln Trio, Black Oak Ensemble), pianist Will McDaniels (ICE), cellist John-Henry Crawford (Curtis Institute), percussionist Tina Laughlin (Chicago Sinfonietta), and composer George W Flynn.

Founded by Flynn in 1988, the Sunday afternoon “New Music at the Green Mill” concerts began as an invitation to composers, improvisors and performers with an emphasis on new music, to be interpreted in the broadest sense.
