Third Coast Percussion at Constellation
Hailed by The New Yorker as “vibrant” and “superb,” Chicago-based quartet Third Coast Percussion explores and expands the extraordinary sonic possibilities of the percussion repertoire, delivering exciting performances for audiences of all kinds. Formed in 2005, Third Coast Percussion has developed an international reputation with concerts and recordings of inspiring energy and subtle nuance. Third Coast Percussion is Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Notre Dame's DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, tours internationally, and performs regularly in their hometown through their Chicago Concert Season. TCP returns to Constellation to continue the Currentsinitiative they launched last season, dedicated to bringing new music and new ideas to their Chicago audience. This concert features premiere a new work by composer and educator Danny Clay based on musical games he developed for elementary school general music classes, groovy music for solo vibraphone and video by Nick Zammuto (The Books), expressive new pieces for marimbas written by Aaron Holloway-Nahum and ensemble member Peter Martin, and the premiere of a full cycle of works with video by TCP's own David Skidmore.
