Shawn Lucas presents "Helio"
a new visual art performance work for three performers

This concert will feature the super talented duo: soprano Nina Dante and violinist Rachel Brown performing "Kafka Fragments," one of Hungarian composer György Kurtág's most revered works. The concert will also feature flutist Shanna Gutierrez, one of Chicago's most prominent contemporary musicians, performing a work by the eminant German composer Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf. Also composer and artist Shawn Lucas will give the U.S. premier of his new work "Helio." Helio uses three performers that create an image by painting on glass and then project a shadow of the image on a wall. The image is then developed, distorted, and destroyed by the painter along with projections and distortions from surrounding lights. This will prove to be an intense concert, an immersive world of sound and visual art. Please join us on August 26th at ARC Gallery!
