Foundation Series [022]

Gilded Records is very excited to present an eclectic night of experimental music and story telling.

Nicky Martin (standup)

A.J. McClenon (experimental dj/spoken word)

" A. J. McClenon is a writer, performer, and visual artist based in Chicago. Her work sets personal narratives alongside empirical data - leveling heirarchies of truth."

Steve Schaberg (standup)

Kelley Sheehan (electronics)
Jill DeGroot (flute)

"Kelley Sheehan is a chicago-born composer and computer musician moving between acoustic, electronic, electro-acoustic, and performance art works.

Currently, she is a Graduate Assistant at DePaul University where she is pursuing her Masters of Music in Music Composition studying with Seung-Won Oh, Christopher Wendell Jones and Fredrick Gifford...

The aim of her work is to build tactile explorations through critiques of performance practices. Sheehan's music is focused on minute physical gestures where the interaction between performer and instrument creates a third parameter through corporeal representations and layers of movement."

"Jill DeGroot is a flute performance major at DePaul University School of Music.

As the founder of Noise Bias, Jill wishes to curate new music performances that directly confront and challenge the gender disparity in the Chicago contemporary music scene. Her goal is to encourage purposeful and thoughtful dialogue while placing decision-making and creative power in the hands of women performers.

Jill is a student of Alyce Johnson, and has performed in master classes with Emmanuel Pahud, Tim Munro, Amy Porter, Jonathan Keeble, Sonora Slocum, Mark Sparks, and Mary Stolper. She has performed in the 2016 Chicago Ear Taxi Festival with DePaul's Ensemble 20+, as well as in the World Premiere of Drew Baker's "NOX."
