CHICAGO, April 20, 2017 – Composers from Michigan and Illinois come together to write new music for Origin Brass and organ. The concert begins at 7pm on Thursday April 20th at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at 1010 W Webster Ave. This is a FREE event open to the public, but donations are encouraged. All music on the program is written within the last five years, much of it hot off the printer, never heard before. Origin Brass is a Chicago-based brass quintet striving to reach audiences across all backgrounds. The group consists of current and postgraduate students from DePaul University. Members of the group have strong connections to the education of youth, the outreach of music and the communication of contemporary music. While still a young ensemble, Origin is achieving large feats in the areas of commissioning and performance of contemporary works. Origin Brass performs a variety of music with unbridled enthusiasm. Vital Organ Project is a collective that facilitates the creation of new music featuring the abilities and distinction of a traditional pipe organ. Through concert series and ongoing premieres of new works, we believe this project will showcase the true versatility of the organ and its relevancy in the 21st century.
